The first step is to shutdown all the vms and put the host in maintenance mode.
Setup your boot media and make sure to boot from the ISO, once it starts you’ll see the ESXi installer.
Hit Enter
Accept the EULA by hitting F11.
You’ll get the option to select the Disk where you want to install ESXi, select the appropriate disk and hit Enter.
Select the upgrade option and hit Enter.
At this point you’re all set and the installer will finish the upgrade.
Hit Enter to reboot and login to the web interface.
Put the host out of maintenance mode.
The upgrade is complete and you have 60 days of eval license available to you, if you have a new license key you can go to manage > Assign License.
